Former San Benito High School Athletic Director Marty Dillon has to wait until at least the end of the year to learn whether he’ll get his job back, or whether his firing will be permanent.
Dillon appealed his dismissal by the Board of Trustees to a three-member panel of arbitrators, who listened to weeks of testimony from former students and parents.
Dillon, who was also the women’s softball coach, was accused earlier this year of grabbing a player’s breasts during a summer league game. The district suspended him pending an investigation and then, based on alleged complaints from other students, dismissed Dillon over the summer. Dillon appealed, which makes his current status with the school, according to officials, “on leave without pay.”
Arbitrators heard a litany of complaints, including allegations made public in The Pinnacle two years ago when his daughter’s batting statistics were exaggerated and she made the All-Monterey Bay League team. According to sources, the daughter told arbitrators she was to blame.
