Once again, Kids at the Park was an opportunity for local families to get outside and be active. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22, the Safe Kids Coalition of local agencies put on the 23rd annual Kids at the Park event at Dunne Park near downtown Hollister.
During the event, Kids learned about the many resources available in San Benito County to keep them healthy, such as healthy eating, physical activities, bicycling safety and more, according to the Safe Kids Coalition.
The San Benito County Council of Governments is part of that agency. Veronica Lezama with COG helped to put on the Kids at the Park event and noted how one trend this year was more people riding bicycles to the event. COG likes to see that because it was promoting the activity by offering free helmets to those who showed up on a bicycle, Lezama noted.
“Compared to last year, we tended to see more folks riding to the event,” Lezama said.
She said physical activity is part of the broader message at the event.
“We’re hoping that this is definitely going to bring more awareness to the overall well-being of children in our community,” she said.
