Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Salinas, joined President Obama in San Francisco on Monday to push Congress on immigration reform.
“Immigration reform is, without a doubt, one of the most important issues that Congress must address as soon as possible,” said Alejo in a statement.
Alejo’s office said he has been a leader in the state on the issue – helping push through bills in the assembly to give driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants as well as a resolution calling for comprehensive immigration reform.
“Beyond the economic benefits that reform would provide, fixing our broken immigration system is simply the right thing to do,” said Alejo.
