San Benito County officials Tuesday are set to consider approval of the Highway 25 bypass as a new truck route, according to the meeting agenda.

To make the Highway 25 bypass a truck route, it must get approval from the involved government entities, including the county, the City of Hollister, the Council of San Benito County Governments and the California Highway Patrol. All of the groups have indicated support for the move.

With the move, truck traffic would be allowed on the 2.4-mile road for the first time. Hollister council members are expected to consider a similar resolution in the “next few weeks,” according to the county agenda.

The meeting Tuesday is set for 9 a.m. at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.
