Dear Editor,
I’m a member of UC Berkeley bike group and knew Katherine (Rider dies in motorcycle accident on Panoche Road, Free Lance, Oct., 9) and just wanted the facts right. Her bike was a 250cc not a 500cc Kawasaki Ninja. Despite the name “Ninja,” these are not high power bikes. The article also weighs the bike at up to 600 pounds. The bike weighs 304 pounds dry so maybe 330 pounds, with fluids and all, tops.
Katherine just was really into her bike but not experienced enough. I wish I had recommended Doc Wong’s free riding clinics to her more forcefully (www.docwong.com). It might of great service to let people know of a program such as this.
