Got a job description for Dr. Silk Socks? No one can find him in his office, he doesn’t return phone calls and no one ever sees him in the field. So, where is he and what does he do?”

“I read with interest the snippet about the foreperson of the grand jury being a female attorney who practices criminal law. Initially, I found it very interesting that someone in court for a traffic matter would be privy to this information if it was supposed to be top secret. Obviously there is more than a leak at the courthouse. It sounds like a waterfall to me.

Giving it a little more thought, I came to the conclusion that it would be a positive thing for anyone being accused of wrongdoing by our District Attorney’s Office to have someone who could examine the evidence or lack thereof from a knowledgeable point of view. This attorney could be an asset for the other grand jurors with less knowledge of the law who would then not have to rely just on the representations of the District Attorney to make their decision. I’m curious as to who appointed this grand jury and who else is on it, how many, how they were selected, what is their term of appointment, etc. Maybe the Free Lance or someone can educated us.

Having said this, I agree with many others who have questioned the need for a sitting criminal grand jury. As the old saying goes, ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.’ I would like to have our District Attorney explain the need for such a body. Could it be money or just a power trip? I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned.”

“Who is responsible for the poor mental health services in this county? Is it the Board of Supervisors? The mental health director? The Mental Health Board?

Why does my loved one end up being placed in jail when he should be getting proper rehabilitation services? Here is the scenario: A mentally ill individual gets in trouble with the law and ends up in jail. That person is then given a few pills and later turned loose so he/she can get picked up again.

We need support services in this community that can provide rehabilitation for the adult mentally ill before they end up in jail. We need support groups, counseling, housing. We need a Mental Health Department that cares about the adults who are mentally ill.”

“Regarding ‘Soap opera continues at DA’s office.’ The Dynamic Duo – Sheriff Sluggo and DA John Starbucks – need to pay for their own attorneys. The county taxpayers should not shoulder the burden and expense of another lawsuit because of their political shenanigans and questionable competence.

In my opinion, it’s time for us to recall John Sarsfield and unceremoniously toss his vindictive butt out of office. As for Hill, he needs to take heed and accept the fact that he tied himself to a falling star rather than a rising one. If he continues to hang onto that star, he will also crash and burn.”
