The Vault is shown in downtown Hollister.

Hollister City Council members Monday approved spending $4,000 toward painting of utility boxes in an effort to stem graffiti.
The city will add to $500 offered by the San Benito Arts Council, which will sponsor the project. That project involves artists painting the five utility boxes. The Hollister Parks Department has agreed to maintain them after completion.
The historical portrayals related to Hollister would include Ballet Folklorico and Agriculture, the Biker Blessing, the Downtown Farmers Market, Western/Rodeo and “La Bamba’ the movie, according to the council agenda. The boxes are located at such spots as The Vault building at Fifth and San Benito streets and the bank at Third and San Benito streets.
The agenda points to graffiti problems on public and private property. Organizers behind the effort looked at what other communities have done to curtail the problem.
