Construction of a bike lane along portions of San Juan Highway between Anzar High School and San Juan Bautista was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2009.

City Manager Bill Avera announced Monday the city had striped three miles of new bicycle lanes in the area.
Avera at Monday’s city council meeting thanked Successor Agency Program Manager Mary Paxton and engineering crews for the work over the last several weeks.
“Cyclists have a little more room to maneuver around town,” Avera said.
Officials did not discuss the streets affected by the new bicycle lanes.
