A consultant tonight will present a report recommending the city cut sewer rates by nearly $40 for single-family homes on bi-monthly bills and then raise them gradually through the 2011-12 fiscal year.
The Hollister City Council will hear that final report from San Francisco-based Stone and Youngberg – hired to weigh options in light of the wastewater treatment plant coming in $20 million under budget.

Next year, rates would increase again as they already have been, but from the lower starting point. For single-family homes, it would increase to $156.95 in 2009-2010, then $172.64 the next year and $186.45 in the plan’s final year.
Under the current outlook, the charges soon were set to increase to $248.80.
Tonight’s meeting at Hollister City Hall starts at 6:30.
