The Hollister Redevelopment Agency is planning to move into the city-owned building that recently housed the YMCA on Fifth Street.

For the past two years, the RDA offices have been located in the Porter House at the corner of Sixth and Monterey streets, a location that provided the space required for what was at the time of the move a growing staff.

When the YMCA moved to its new location in the former Fortino’s Total Home building on Tres Pinos Road, the downtown office was left vacant.

The Hollister City Council on Monday was set to discuss the planned $57,000 relocation to the vacant building on Fifth Street, just doors away from City Hall.

According to a staff report, the costs associated with the relocation include the purchase of modular office partitions and the installation of wireless networking. Other costs include cleaning the carpets, minor repairs, and removal of the YMCA lettering from the windows.

The RDA has been without a director since Bill Chow was fired earlier this year. Interviews for his replacement have been conducted, though the position has not been filled as the city finalized its yearly budget.
