Hollister council members Monday elected Robert Scattini as vice mayor.

The council at the outset of each year chooses a new vice mayor, who would step in for the newly elected mayor if needed.

Voters in November for the first time elected an at-large mayor, Ignacio Velazquez, as opposed to having the council choose one of its own members annually as it does with the vice mayor.

Council members unanimously supported Scattini as vice mayor. City Clerk Geri Johnson then administered the Oath of Office.
