Hollister – With the new fiscal year fast approaching, the City Council is holding several special meetings this week to review the budgets proposed by city departments.

“It’s their (city councilmembers) opportunity to do a line item of all departments’ budgets,” said City Manager Clint Quilter.

On the Council’s Monday agenda were the budgets proposed by several city departments, including the departments of engineering, community services and development services. Councilmembers also looked at proposed budgets for the city attorney, city clerk, city council, city manager and the airport.

Today councilmembers will continue reviewing department budgets, including those for the police and fire departments. The meeting will be held at 6:30pm. A third meeting will be held Thursday at 4:30pm. Both meetings will be held at 375 Fifth Street.

The city’s entire budget will be complete in July, Quilter said.

The Redevelopment Agency’s budget will be reviewed along with the city department budgets. The RDA board, which consists of city councilmembers, will review the agency’s proposed budget for the coming fiscal year during the same meetings that city department budgets are reviewed.

As with any City Council or RDA meeting, the public is welcome to attend this week’s budget meetings, Quilter said.
