Editor,
On Sept, 22, in a column written by Planning Commissioner Mike Smith, the 1 percent growth cap is called an initiative of a bygone era. In a recent paper, a hired gun planner from Sacramento thinks that overriding the 1 percent cap would not require a vote of the people.
As I remember, this cap was put into place to prevent what happened in Hollister from happening in the county. I guess now that they are elected, most of the supervisors think they can act without regard for the will of the people. A thousand houses here, a thousand houses there doesn’t seem to me to be reasonable growth, but I may be wrong.
