County officials have received a report saying the El Rancho San Benito development’s environmental impact review should be ready for public examination and a 45-day comment period by early 2009.
At the afternoon session of Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting, county planning official Art Henriques gave an update for the Santana Ranch and El Rancho San Benito projects.
When the comment period ends for the 6,800-unit DMB proposal off the south side of Highway 25, staff will prepare the comments and then present them to the board. After that, the final EIR can be started.
The Santana Ranch development, meanwhile, is slated for the east side of Fairview Road between John Smith Road and Airline Highway. The project would be just north of the potential Gavilan College campus, noted Henriques.
Officials with El Rancho San Benito are working with the county on three necessities – specific plan processing, the EIR and the general plan amendment.
Henriques explained specific plan processing as the general layout of the development, such as block usage proposals and the street layout. The general plan amendment would include how the project would change the map.
