Wednesday evening August 18, 2004 at the age of 87 years.
Donaldena “Dena” L. Hain passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital on Wednesday evening August 18, 2004 at the age of 87 years.
A native of San Jose, Mrs. Hain has been a resident of San Benito County since 1940. Upon graduation from Healds Business College she accepted a booking position in Los Gatos. It was in Los Gatos that she met her husband to be, John B. “Jack” Hain.
They married in 1940, moved to San Benito County, and celebrated 55 years of marriage before he passed away in May of 1995.
Dena was a homemaker all her married life. She was a 4-H Leader for over 20 years; a member of San Benito County Farm Bureau Homemakers Group; a Secretary of the Hollister Travel Trailer Club when her husband was its President; and a member of the Hollister United Methodist Church. One of her favorite interests was needle-point. Many examples of her work can be seen throughout her home.
Besides being the spouse of the late Jack Hain and mother of the late John S. Hain, Donaldena is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jackilee Hain Shearer and Don Shearer of Tres Pinos; son and daughter-in-law Thomas Hain and Joan Hain of Paicines; daughter-in-law Cindy Giese and her husband Ron of Woodland; grandchildren Greg Hain of Sacramento, Jon Hain and his wife, Lisa, of Brunswick, Md.; and Marc Hain of Paicines; brother Donald Luther of San Jose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by her very close friends Helen Hain, Neval Neal, Dorothy Quaid, and Jean Shearer whom she spoke with frequently, and a host of other friends.
As per Mrs. Hains wishes private cremation has be arranged through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Crematory 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Memorials are preferred to Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation c/o the funeral home chapel or to the donors favorite charity.
