With just about 400 provisional ballots left to count – and a handful of regular ballots that machines could not read – there are few contested races remaining.
In the closest, prominent race on the county ballot, incumbent Supervisor Jerry Muenzer was holding on to a narrow edge over challenger Victor Gomez in the race for District 4 county supervisor after the latest release of tallies. Muenzer led with 1,778 votes to 1,756 votes for Gomez, an advantage of 50.21 percent to 49.51 percent, according to the elections office figures.
In other close races, Mickie Solorio Luna has pulled away from opponent Victoria Montoya in the race for the District 2 Hollister council seat. They are vying to succeed former Councilman Robert Scattini, who moved into District 3 and lost in that race to newcomer Karson Klauer.
Luna had 630 votes to 576 for Montoya or an advantage of 51.81 percent to 47.37 percent, according to unofficial results.
In the tightest race as it pertains to vote counts, for a seat on the Tres Pinos Water District board, Robert Frusetta had 48 votes to 47 for Anthony Holiday or an edge of 50.53 percent to 49.47 percent, according to the elections office.
The elections office still has those 400 or so ballots left to count. Assistant Clerk-Recorder-Registrar Angela Curro said the office has a goal of finishing those Tuesday.
From there, it would take at least a week to finish the official canvass – including a 1 percent manual recount – before results go to the board of supervisors for a certification.
