Patrick M. Filice of Hollister has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and was honored during a ceremony Monday at Boston College.

Filice is the son of Kay Filice and the late Chuck Filice of Hollister.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is a highly selective, national non-profit honors organization that recognizes first- and second-year undergraduate students who excel academically. It was established on the principle that with scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service.

“NSCS provides the opportunity for students like Patrick to be recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments early in their college experience,” Steve Loflin, the society’s executive director, said in a statement. “Patrick will also have the opportunity to join other high-achieving college students in developing leadership skills and a sense of civic responsibility.”
