Editor,

I noted an error in your story about the failing recall attempt. Your story indicated that it was the second attempt. In fact, it was the fifth attempt in less than a year.

The first attempt failed on July 20, 2004 because the proponents violated the word count limit on the notice of intent to recall.

The second attempt failed after some person or persons connected to the recall poisoned my children’s dogs in late July last year.

The third attempt failed in January 2005 when the proponents failed to get enough valid signatures on the notice of intent to recall.

The fourth attempt also failed in January 2005 when the proponents listed incorrect addresses on the notice of intent to recall.

The fifth attempt failed as reported by your paper last week.

John Sarsfield, district attorney
