The San Benito Chamber of Commerce has scheduled another Speed Campaign event for the upcoming election.

The chamber held a similar event in April before the June primary. The next one, to precede November’s general election, is set for 11:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club. It takes the place of that month’s Lunch with Leaders event, and it is set to last until 1 p.m., said Jessica French, chamber president and CEO.

The chamber has invited candidates from races that include those for sheriff, District 4 supervisor, Hollister council Districts 2 and 3, the three open San Juan Bautista council seats, the two local seats on the Gavilan College board and the sheriff’s position.

The format will change from the prior Speed Campaign event. This time around, candidates each will have four minutes for introductions to the entire crowd. From there, they will break off to different tables, where attendees can talk to candidates of their choice.

The cost is $15 in advance or $18 at the door. For information or to RSVP, call the chamber at (831) 637-5315.

Additionally, the chamber’s Lunch with Leaders event for this month is set for Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the guest is new Planning Director Gary Armstrong.
