Practice makes perfect on the green
The one thing we all face when we are playing golf is pressure.
Why? First think of where we practice. When you practice tennis,
baseball, basketball, bowling and soccer you practice where you
really play the game. Not golf. Golf is practiced at a totally
non-threatening environment, the driving range. How can you get in
troubling when you have 30 more balls to hit the 150 green after
the first 2 missed it.

I’ll give a few things that I have some of my students do to put a little pressure on themselves while they practice. First you need to be warmed up. Now start with whichever club will hit the 100-yard green. If you have a 10 or under index you must hit green 10 times in a row, if you miss it on the 9th shot you must start over. You can’t change clubs until you have all 10. If you are an 11 through 19 hit it 5 times in a row. You will find that when you get to the last few balls pressure rears its ugly head. Learn to deal with it.
Now if you want to learn to deal with it on a tournament level here is what I have those students of mine do. Take out your 8 iron and do the same thing also at the 100-yard green. How well can you control your swing when you know you have too much club? Now you have pressure starting with your first swing. This is how you can learn to deal with a goal under pressure. Play well.
