Victor Gomez

District 4 Hollister Councilman Victor Gomez announced he will seek a third, four-year term.
Gomez, who ran unopposed in 2012, made the announcement in a statement released Tuesday morning. He is actually ahead of schedule, with his race on the November ballot.
According to the statement:
“Prior to 2008, the City of Hollister faced many severe issues. From the buildup of unfunded liabilities to the lack of investment in our local parks, our city was in bad shape. Prior Council action and the lack of investment in economic development did not help our economic climate and job creation. A change in leadership was needed and I’m grateful that the voters of my district elected me to represent them.
“I’m proud of the work I, along with my colleagues, have accomplish. Over the years I have pushed for the pay down of municipal debt for the betterment of our fiscal health and have continued to champion investment in our parks, investment in public safety and funding/investment in our local roads. I’m also glad to have led an effort to place a sales tax measure on the ballot for the widening of Highway 25 and street maintenance. Though I’m pleased with the progress we have made, the work must continue.
“For those reasons I’m announcing my candidacy for re-election to Council District 4.
“It is my desire to continue to advocate for the residents of District 4 as I have over the past 7 years. The residents deserve an experienced voice in the area of business and public policy. I am that voice. And I would be honored to be re-elected to represent them.
