The challenger for the District 4 county supervisor seat out-raised the incumbent by more than $16,000 in the latest filing period.
Hollister Councilman Victor Gomez is challenging Supervisor Jerry Muenzer for the seat. The two were on the June ballot as well, with Muenzer outpacing Gomez 42.71 percent to 38.33 percent, or a 101-vote margin, in the primary with historically much lower turnouts compared with a gubernatorial election like the one next month.
Candidates had to submit their campaign finance documents in the final filing before the election.
Gomez raised $37,219 from January through September and spent $35,981 in that period. Muenzer raised $20,711 and spent $12,238 from January through September.
Muenzer also raised $626 in the last six months of 2013 and spent $4,420, according to documents.
