The former Dollar Tree, Larry's Liquors and Neighborhood Pizza building is shown Thursday.

Grocery Outlet is planning to open a store at the former Dollar Tree location destroyed by fire in December 2013, according to a city council agenda.
Grocery Outlet is applying for a liquor license for the location at 550 Tres Pinos Road, according to the city council agenda for Feb. 2. It is unclear how much of the space—formerly occupied by Dollar Tree, Larry’s Liquors and Neighborhood Pizza—the store plans to use.
Grocery Outlet is a discount grocery store with more than 210 stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Pennsylvania, according to the company website. The closest stores to Hollister are in Gilroy, Watsonville and Salinas.
The planning department was not involved with the transition because it was already a permitted use, being a commercial building. A building department official could not be reached immediately before publication regarding permits.
