Dear Editor,
The consolidation of media in this country has led to almost no choice of radio on either the AM or FM bands. When I drive to work I can pick up a dozen or so stations. One CBS, several owned by Clear Channel and a couple by Infinity Broadcasting. The programming is nearly identical, and all the Clear Channel-owned talk stations play the same lineup of Rush, Dr. Laura, Sean Hannity, etc. …
Republicans like to claim that other shows don’t get the ratings, but the truth is if you live in Central California, there are no other radio shows! There is no competition! It reminds me of jokes about the old Soviet Russia where someone would change the channel and the same program played on every station.
This is not the America I was born into.
