The latest results after many provisional ballots had been counted showed a slightly tighter gap in the race for District 4 supervisor, while the numbers didn’t sway much from election night.
Voters a week ago decided on races for District 3 and District 4 supervisor seats, along with the sheriff’s position. There will be a runoff in the District 4 and sheriff races in the November general election.
In District 3, challenger Robert Rivas’ victory has become even more pronounced. He had 72.8 percent of the vote, or 1,295 votes. Incumbent Supervisor Pat Loe had 26.9 percent, or 479 votes, according to unofficial election results. With just two candidates, a runoff is unnecessary.
In District 4, Phil Fortino held a lead over fellow challenger Jerry Muenzer, as the two continue on after defeating incumbent Supervisor Reb Monaco. Fortino had 43.7 percent, or 1,342 votes. Muenzer had 40.4 percent, or 1,242 votes. Monaco, who will finish his second term in November, had 15.3 percent, or 471 votes.
For sheriff, Undersheriff Pat Turturici had 47 percent, or 4,788 votes. Police Lt. Darren Thompson had 25.2 percent, or 2,571 votes. Police Sgt. Ray Wood had 17.6 percent, or 1,793 votes. And Marshal Robert Scattini had 10 percent, with 1,017 votes, according to the figures.
Those numbers were released Friday evening. Elections supervisor Kim Hawk noted how workers today were continuing to count provisional ballots and the office hopes to finish Wednesday.
