I read with interest your article regarding the airport manager
being placed on paid leave. Clearly the airport manager’s behavior
(in making unauthorized changes to the Airport Layout Plan and
subsequently lying to city council when he claimed the plan was the
one recommended by the airport advisory commission) was unethical
and I believe grounds for termination.

I read with interest your article regarding the airport manager being placed on paid leave. Clearly the airport manager’s behavior (in making unauthorized changes to the Airport Layout Plan and subsequently lying to city council when he claimed the plan was the one recommended by the airport advisory commission) was unethical and I believe grounds for termination. However this was not the first performance issue that has been brought to the attention of city council and the city manager.
This is only the latest in a long line of performance issues during the airport manager’s tenure. Most disappointing has been the reluctance of city council and City Manager Clint Quilter to address multiple, repeated and documented performance issues brought to their attention by many airport users. The latest attempt was in early November when then-Mayor Brad Pike and Quilter were presented with a petition documenting numerous and specific performance issues and requesting the airport manager’s removal. The petition was signed by over 100 airport users.
Let us hope that his paid leave will result in early termination with no payment of any settlement – he should be fired for cause.
