From my perspective I found the political cartoon (Aug. 24,
2010) powerful but puzzling. I would edit it slightly to fit
reality.
Resident says it’s time to use common sense with cuts
Dear Editor,
Hallelujah! There we go again with another election. I have enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm of many people putting up large quantities of election signs. I like the attitude and hope the winners continue to be aggressive. One thing I have noticed is the longer they stay the less appreciation they have.
This is an attractive job with a fair pay. You have to take it serious. Most change attitude including our president. We understand times are tough that’s why you have to be tough. I have heard all the problems that this county has to balance the budget. To me that shouldn’t be left for the last hour it should be taken on a daily basis. That way it doesn’t get you by surprise. Cuts should be done as you go. This is not asking too much just common sense.
It’s hard to solve problems at the last minute. Talking about the library in tough times open two days a week should be enough to satisfy the ones that can’t live without. I don’t see great benefit out of this. The benefits are for this town only. We are not the only ones with a bad economy. But I say for the last 20 years we have done nothing but run in reverse. If there is one that can prove otherwise prove it. We just lost control. We went down hill and seems no way back.
The ones who will be elected will face alot of responsibility. Don’t try to do it alone you will never make it. Try to prove that you are responsible and have ideas. If you do you will be able to convince the majority and get something done. Otherwise bull! Only my opinion. See you around.

Cartoon about mosque at World Trade Center could use some adjustments
Dear Editor,
From my perspective I found the political cartoon (Aug. 24, 2010) powerful but puzzling. I would edit it slightly to fit reality.
On the prone figure with the tractor marks, I would place, “First Amendment Construction Inc.” In his stop signal I would place, “Freedom of Religion.” On the tractor I would place the sign, “Respect 9-11 Victims.” On the “On This Site” sign I would place “Inner City Project Islamic Cultural Center,” two and a half blocks from the former site of the World Trade Center.
What puzzles me most is that this Islamic Cultural Center is for Americans, Muslim Americans and all Americans. Muslims have also lost loved ones on 9/11. Muslims also serve in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Has anyone thought that their perspective might be one of commiseration and unity?
From this tempest in a Tea Party Pot cartoon one would think that intolerance is the new Christianity.
