Locals Treated as Badly as Everyone Else at the Rally
Locals Treated as Badly as Everyone Else at the Rally
Editor,
Hey, out-of-town bikers,
Thought you might feel better if you were aware that we locals in Hollister were also harassed this past weekend! While visiting with family and friends at a small Fourth of July get-together on Tuesday, I learned locals had been pulled over or cited for, among other things:
No license plates in front (Lexus doesn’t even come with plate holders in front)
Tinted windows
Minor parking ticket
License tag question
That is just a few. I thought all the officers were brought in to protect the people. I really don’t feel threatened by someone with tinted windows or license plates in the back only!

Unwanted Bikers are Professionals Ready to Spend
Editor,
The only thing that was “dirty, rotten & smelly” was the horse dropping left behind on the streets and sidewalks from Hollister’s 4-legged finest.
Hollister council, WAKE UP! Are you blind? Your ship has come in with all of the bikers and their wallets and you’re standing at the bus depot.
Ninety-five percent of those unwanted bikers are professionals. Many with degrees in different fields. Who else could afford a Harley Davidson bike or any other motorcycle that costs anywhere from $15,000 to $45,000?
I believe the tri-tip smoke got in your eyes and you have failed to represent the good citizens of Hollister as you promised when you took your oath of office.
Maybe once you have realized your position, you will move away from the donut shop and hop on the wagon to financial success.

P.S. To the one that mentioned “the only thing different downtown are the color of the port-a-potties”?
I wonder if he saw a reflection of his career in one of those?
City Council Deserves Thanks for Taking a Tough Stand
Editor,
To the members of the Hollister City Council who said;
Vote for me; I’ll study the facts and do my best
I will not undermine the integrity of the majority
If you do not like the decisions I make, call or write and I’ll discuss it
I will not be intimidated by a small minority who disagree…
THANK YOU!

Let Merchants Make Money
Editor,
I am a resident of Hollister living in Ridgemark. My husband, who rides a chopper, has always loved the rally. This year was a joke and even a waste of time to go downtown. I hope the people who run Hollister are proud of scaring the town and not letting the merchants make money. The amount of police was totally ridiculous. They were stopping people on the street checking if babies were strapped in their stroller correctly.
To the people who run Hollister … you all need a life and let people have fun. We as residents don’t have a lot here so at least let us enjoy a holiday which is the Fourth and let the merchants make some money.

Rally was an Official Joke
Editor,
Does anyone really care about a biker? Guess the city council doesn’t. I’ve been to all the big bike rallies and have never seen such a joke as the “unofficial” Hollister Rally of 2006. I have pictures of more police than bikers there on Friday, June 30. Don’t tell me that they didn’t spend a pretty penny on all that force. Let the public know what the cost was, or are they too embarrassed? Bikers are not “bad” people and we do like to spend money.
