Hooper Mancino Should be Able to Step in Right Away

The election of Candice Hooper Mancino was a resounding rejection of the administration of District Attorney John Sarsfield and the candidacy of Art Cantu. Now, because of California’s obtuse primary elections laws, she must wait seven months to take office. Whatever John Sarsfield’s faults, he knows when he has been beaten, and I applaud his decision to transfer the criminal prosecutions calendar to Mancino.
His next step should be to resign and allow Mancino to fulfill her mandate and immedaitely begin to hire staff. A seven month lame duck administration serves no purpose other than to prolong the inevitable and waste San Benito County’s limited resources.

You Uninformed Voters do the Most Harm in Elections

I continue to be disappointed, yet not surprised by uninformed voters.
The current example is to put an incumbent back into office who is apparently unwilling of doing the job.
How any of you voters have read the 2004-2005 Grand Jury Report? What about the 1999-2000 and 2002-2003 report? You mean you didn’t do your homework on the candidates before voting? You uniformed voters are the most dangerous and do the most harm.
Anyone in the private sector wouldn’t have a job after reviews such as these.
Only in government are unwilling unresponsive people rewarded by uninformed voters.
The Grand Jury and its findings must be taken seriously and we the people must respond by not reelecting an unworthy candidate.
