Editor’s Response Only Slighted Firefighters Further

Editor,

I found your Editor’s note extremely disappointing. It sounds rather defensive perhaps because as you stated, “(situations sometimes) prevent reporters from speaking to all agencies present” was exactly what seemed to have happened. I thought it was the job of a reporter to get all the facts. Knowing that this is difficult it would seem that when drawn to your attention you would print the new information and not editorialize it to make it sound like it was a game of who got there first.

The pure courage it takes to become a firefighter is phenomenal. They train constantly both physically and mentally. They are prepared to do what it takes to save lives and structures. The San Juan Bautista Volunteer Fire Department does this and does it for free. They put their lives on the line for you and me. I know this personally because not only do I have two firefighters on the department but one year ago they saved my home from total destruction with their quick and professional response. Your article needed to let the people of San Juan Bautista know that again their fire department was doing its job with heart and courage and failing at that you should have not minimized the correction with your “editor’s note.”

Sarsfield Should ‘Do All of Us a Favor’ and Resign

Editor,

Oh my gosh, did you read what our D.A. Mr. Sarsfield is up to now? Not going to prosecute minor drug offenders, drunk in public or selected minor offenses. Let’s see, last time I checked these crimes were against the law and worthy of being prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Thank god our hardworking law enforcement folks are not following his sorry lead and will still be apprehending these criminals!

How would you, Mr. Sarsfield, feel if one of these criminals sold drugs to your child and then not pay for their crime?

It seems to me that you want our whole community to suffer because you were not re-elected and this is a selfish act.

Why don’t you do all of us a favor and either act like a DA should, or resign so our streets will at least be safer from the criminals that you don’t want to prosecute!
