Crimson Crusader, Take Note: Don’t Dump Old Cell Phones
Editor,
Regarding the Red Phone column “Ditch That Old Cell, Then Call the Crusader” (Dec. 20), I would like to offer this to your Crimson Crusader:
A better alternative for recycling old cell phones is to donate them back into the community.
Both the Emmaus House and the Victim Witness Program accept used cell phones that they both pass on to their clients to use in case of emergencies.
No subscription service is needed on a cell phone to call 911, and their clients then can have a phone with them to help protect them in a time of need.

Police Officers Not Responsible for Removal of Graffiti
Editor,
In response to Bob Huenemann’s letter to the editor (“Is It Really Necessary to Have Police Officers Remove Graffiti?” Dec. 19), on-duty police officers are not responsible in removing grafitti per my communication with the Hollister Police Department.
But if the grafitti abatement program is eliminated, it is going to be up to the citizens to do the appropriate cleanup.
