Reporting Suspicious Activity to Police Just Seems Pointless
Reporting Suspicious Activity to Police Just Seems Pointless
Editor,
Regarding the story “Police Combat Metal Thefts” (March 8):
I recently saw three guys with tools and a pit bull walking down my street carrying some copper wiring that they probably had stolen from somewhere that looked like it needed to be stripped.
I called the police and when he arrived they had already jumped the fence to the trailer park at the end off South Street.
The cop didn’t seem interested in doing anything.
I see all kinds of crazy stuff, but now feel hopeless in calling the police as they seem to be useless.

Republicans Believe State Should Pay Cost of Primary
Editor,
The California Senate voted to have the state reimburse the counties for the cost of the Feb. 5, 2008 Presidential primary election. The California Assembly removed the provision for the state to reimburse the counties.
The Assembly vote was along party lines, Democrats voting, in effect, to impose a mandated “tax” on the counties, the Republicans voting not to “tax” the counties.
As chairman of the San Benito County Republican Party, I want to emphasize that the Republican Party recognizes the citizens of California will ultimately pay the bill. However, the state should shoulder this burden and not pass the costs to the counties.

Why Should City Subsidize Airport for Non-Residents?
Editor,
I have seen a number of people in front of the City Council in regard to airport hangars.
The question is not so much about hangar cost, as why do we as a city subsidize pilots that don’t even live in the county?
