Support the Supervisors, and Be Sure to Vote
Support the Supervisors, and Be Sure to Vote

Editor,

If you see it the way I see it, elections are at the door. We are enjoying a beautiful country with peace and prosperity. I feel we owe this to the ones who sacrifice their lives and to the ones in the government who work so hard to make things happen. Every citizen should be involved. No one should miss a vote. We have been doing it for 43 years without fail.

Do not be afraid of your opinion. There isn’t much you can do alone but if your opinion is based on the truth and common sense you will have the ones who agree with you and together you may succeed. Peace is the most important thing in life. If you let things go and not vote or come with our opinions things will start to fall in the negative ones’ hands. With those there is no peace. Vote, but be sure before you vote that you study it and ask questions. If we all do that, we will have a chance for a government of peace. The last election, the people of this country recognized the negative ones. They are easy to recognize because they are usually against progress and not easy to get along with others. Be aware of the negative ones before you vote. Right now we have a Board of Supervisors that have brought peace to our county and the people of this county. I enjoy attending their meetings and always wait to hear a joke from one of them that makes everybody laugh. They have great control and get along well with the staff and public. It’s one of the best relationship I have experienced during the many years that I have attended meetings. In my opinion, this is a board we must keep together. I feel they have done a great job that we all should be proud of and supportive.

To the people of District 4, I feel that our Supervisor Reb Monaco, with his education experience and good records, we need him. The county needs him. It would be foolish to separate this board when they have worked so well together. My wife and I know this family for many years. Both of us believe supervisor Monaco deserves to be re-elected. Remember the old saying “We know what we got. We just don’t know what we might get.” Make no mistake. Don’t forget to vote and vote for Supervisor Monaco. As always, just my opinion.

Hollister Residents Invited to Take a Tour of Lincoln Hills Pulte Homes/Del Webb Community Near Sacramento

Editor,

On Thursday, Oct. 5, we are hosting a free Sun City Lincoln Hills Tour and we invite Hollister residents to come see firsthand what we are about. Touring our community, just north of Sacramento, is a great way to understand what we are proposing for Hollister. Like Hollister, Lincoln was looking for ways to carefully plan for its future and a Sun City community offered a solution that provided all the benefits of development without the usual costs.

We see an opportunity to work together to bring about a positive change and deliver a Sun City community in Hollister that complements everything that is loved about this city. Measure S is the first step in an extensive environmental and public review process that will ensure that the new Sun City will benefit Hollister while also providing needed housing for residents 55 and older. With voter approval, Measure S will allow us to start planning a community that brings smart growth, economic revitalization and numerous community benefits to Hollister.

Please join us on Oct. 5 to learn more and give your feedback about Sun City communities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. For more information call (831) 636-1485 or visit www.SunCityHollister.com

She Won’t Vote Yes on This Development Proposal

Editor,

Wow! I read Michael Fry’s (Letters, Sept. 28) comments and agree with the majority of them. The only concern I had with his comments is that I will not vote “yes” on all developer initiatives that come to our lovely town of Hollister and San Benito County.

I will keep voting “NO” and voicing my slow growth and growth intelligence philosophy to our city and county leaders. We don’t need thousands and thousands of homes built at Rancho San Benito, at San Juan Golf Course, on Fairview, and lastly not Pulte/Del Webb’s Sun City Hollister’s 4,400 homes on Measure S. I appreciate Rancho San Benito’s efforts to work with the residents here. They are vowing to build an infrastructure of their own. How about Pulte/Del Webb and their 4,400 “senior” homes? NO! Pulte/Del Webb are not. They are spending lots of money on fancy brochures mailed to my home to vote “yes” on Measure S.

However, your front page article in yesterday’s paper, really shows Pulte Del Webb’s lack of concern for our city and county. As some may not know, Annette Giacomazzi IS paid by Pulte/Del Webb. Yes, this is the same person that was pushing for our most expensive $120 million dollar sewer system which by the way, is the most expensive in this area of California. It is also NOT the biggest or the most efficient sewer system in the area for the $120 million that it will cost. This $120 million dollar sewer system will last only 15-20 years before it needs to be overhauled again. Yet, Ms. Giacomazzi was part of the group called CLEAR pushing for this sewer system. No wonder she was part of CLEAR; she wants our sewer system for the 4,400 homes that Pulte/Del Webb want us to approve on Measure S. This is ridiculous! Why should we add 4,400 homes to our sewer system? It will become obsolete and overused even sooner than 15-20 years if we let Pulte/Del Webb invade our community. Please vote “no” on Measure S to save our city’s infrastructure from being overrun by Pulte and Del Webb.
