The elections office is part of the operation.

The San Benito County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Among the items on the agenda, supervisors will weigh adjustments to the clerk’s office fee schedule in an effort to increase revenue in tough financial times.

Supervisors are set to hold a public hearing for a proposed update to the fee schedule in the clerk’s office. Those fees are charged for anything from obtaining a birth certificate to filing for an environmental impact report.

The elected clerk-auditor-recorder, Joe Paul Gonzalez, underlined the state’s shift in revenues away from counties in the agenda item for Tuesday’s meeting at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.

Under the proposal, there are some new fees, along with increases or decreases for existing levies. The law allows for fees to cover the actual costs of collecting and processing the requests.
