Due to changing costs of materials, the City of Hollister’s water meter connection fees will increase or decrease, depending on the size. The Hollister City Council reviewed and approved the new rates in a 3-2 vote at its meeting June 20.

Council members Victor Gomez and Robert Scattini voted against it.

The fee covers the costs for the materials, including the meter and strainer, according to a city council staff report. The new fees are derived from the cost of the meters as quoted by the city’s supplier, along with a pro-rated cost for installation services.

Some of the changes include the 5/8 by 3/4 meter going from $204 to $301; the one-inch meter going from $608 to $443; and the two-inch meter going from $1,238 to $848, according to the city staff report.

Currently, the city uses Neptune Meters that are purchased from Measurement Control Systems out of Rocklin. They are determined to be the lowest-cost provider of the Neptune Meters on the market, according to the city.
