Most San Benito County offices will be closed today because it is the first of three required furlough days on holidays.

Most county offices are closed today, which is Columbus Day, as well as on Lincoln’s birthday in February and Cesar Chavez Day in March. Other office closures throughout the year will be more staggered, but for many employees around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

County employees as part of the cost-cutting plan are required to take 15 furlough days off in each of the next two fiscal years. No office closures are planned at the probation department, CalFire or the veterans’ services office.
