In other business, the Council also:

– Appointed members to two city agencies. Councilman Tony LoBue appointed Ray Pierce, the lone applicant, to the Planning Commission. And Mayor Brian Conroy appointed all four applicants to the four openings on the Parks and Recreation Commission. They include Bob Baumgartner, Adam Breen, Chris Alvarez and Bruce Lewis. At the next Council meeting July 21, Conroy will also appoint three members to the Airport Advisory Commission.

– Authorized bidding for the installation of the dissolved air flotation unit at the domestic wastewater plant. The DAF unit, which has already been purchased by the city, is designed to assure disposed wastewater meets criteria of the state water board. The estimated cost for construction is $400,000.

– Authorized bidding for the “Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant and Animal Shelter Fencing Project. It is purposed to install fencing and signs at the plant to inform visitors to the neighboring Animal Shelter of the wastewater presence. The estimated cost is $20,000.
