Construction on the Riverside/Brigatino Park site has begun and is expected to be completed by in the spring of 2009.

According to city Engineering Manager Wittry, the buildings that sit on the park site, across the street from the industrial plant on San Juan-Hollister Road, are undergoing asbestos removal and should be completed by Friday. There are other buildings on the site that will be torn down to make way for a non-designated recreational space. Wittry said that although there aren’t plans for soccer goals to be put in, there is “room to play soccer, frisbee or whatever activity.”

The site was purchased by the city for $5 million and is being developed by Perma-Green Hydroseed, Inc. of Gilroy. The park will be treated with recycled water from the newly opened sewer plant.
