A drought at local parks

Its not uncommon to see children galloping around at local parks and then running to the drinking fountains to quench their thrist. But at some Hollister city parks, kids are out of luck if they don’t bring along their own drinking water.

The water fountains at South East and Frank Klauer Park have been down for awhile according to Pinnacle readers. The fountains offer the tiniest of trickles when children turn the knob and are covered in mineral deposits. Whether the fountains are simply broken or turned off by design, thristy kids shouldn’t be surprised when they spend the day at the park.

Maintenance of parks falls to Marcelo Orta, who was not available for comment by press time. Clay Lee is the director of Community Services for the city of Hollister. They can be reached at 636-4370.
