City looks to finish downtown striping
You may have noticed the fresher paint outlining the downtown parking spaces, as Hollister’s public works crews have been working on the annual touch-up job.
“Otherwise, people can’t see the lines and where exactly they’re supposed to park,” said streets official Marcelo Orta.
The city is required by the state to re-stripe the stalls each year, Orta said. Crews usually shoot for starting in August but got pushed back a bit this year due to manpower shortages, Orta said.
Workers have finished the majority of the painting, such as the handicap spots. They are doing the traditional parking spaces on streets and in downtown lots this week and hope to get it all done before New Year’s Day.
