Blane Curtice and Shelli Reed represented San Benito Aquatics at the Junior Olympics held in San Ramon on March 12-14 by setting six team records.

Reed advanced to the finals in five of the six events in the 11-12 age group.

She brought home a first-place gold medal in the 50-yard backstroke with a Pacific Recognition Time (PRT) of 29.15.

Reed also placed second three events – the 50 butterfly (29.10), the 100IM (1:04.29) and the 200IM (2:19.29). All three marks were also PRT times.

Blane Curtice qualified for finals in the 200-yard breast stroke by breaking his own team record with a time of 2:25.77.

He placed third in the finals. This was a “Q” time, which qualifies him for the Far Western Championships.

San Benito Aquatics will be running a Spring Clinic from April 5-9. Tryouts will be held March 19 and 26 at 6-8 p.m.
