Dear Editor:

If you weren’t at Bolado Park over the weekend you missed out on an outstanding jeans-and-cowboy-hats – with horses thrown in for good measure – traditional rodeo.

The San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo is a tradition dating back 71 years. In today’s fast paced world, how nice it is to step back in time for a weekend!

Special thanks go to the Board of Directors and Manager of the Saddle Horse Show for another year well done. Looking around the grandstands, it was heartwarming to see the young and the not so young alike enjoying their local traditions. Every day was unique and thrilling. What a pleasure to watch our local residents participate in their special and unique county events.

I also participated in the San Benito County Saddle Horse Show Parade on Thursday night in downtown Hollister. What a thrill to see friends lining the streets to see our local festivities. Our San Benito County Chamber of Commerce does this parade each year and should be commended for a job well done. Our county is a gold mine of wonderful people and events such as these.

Thank you for the opportunity to attend and enjoy them.
