Dear Editor,
Local business leaders complaints about excessive government impact fees are inconsistent with their allegiance to VTA-SVMG socialist transit. By casting their lot with VTA-SVMG, they have doomed local small business owners to increasing the small business failure rate as Radical Socialists ratchet-up fees and taxes to pay the ever-increasing deficits for socialist bus, train and Bullet Train boondoggles. I predict that the small business failure rate, including especially vulnerable ones in Old Downtown, will approach 99 percent as our elected leaders feed the Black Hole Transit Hub. Higher fee/tax demands to subsidize Amtrak, Caltrain and Bullet Train and VTA’s ultra-radical losing Lite Rail, plus the abomination they call bus transit, will bankrupt growing numbers of that endangered species, the California small business owner. Asking for socialism, then complaining about its consequences, is not only inconsistent, it is base hypocrisy, to borrow Lincoln’s phrase.
What if people started using public transit in large numbers, leaving the cars at home? How soon would local government be bankrupt, shutting down other essential services? In San Benito County, when transit reaches 14 percent of annual SBC trips. Caveat Viator!
