Dear Editor,
I decided to write this letter to comment on a couple of things. As a rancher, the death of our District Attorney’s children’s pets really bothers me. We can imagine how those children felt. My sympathy to all of the family on this matter.
I don’t like to point fingers on this. Our DA’s job is to prosecute criminals; some are capable of doing much worse then killing puppies. There are a lot of people out there who are crazy, do drive-bys and drugs. You can never tell what they will do next. I can’t believe this is related to politics. But I believe whoever did this deserves to be in a
mental institution.
I would also like to comment on our supervisors’ ideas about controlling election money. To me, it seems strange when everything has become more costly.
A cut like this doesn’t make sense. I didn’t see Ross Perot with his billion dollars, or many more like him, accomplish anything. This sounds to me to be sparks of Measure G. Some people just can’t get it. They are going to keep throwing punches even after they’ve left, poor sports.
If I were a supervisor, I would try to occupy myself in things to please the public. Like next year’s budget.
First, I would work here to pass a law when a supervisor misses a meeting that it be taken out of his salary. That will save the county close to $1,000 for each miss.
This is just one. There are so many problems like this in our county government, if our board was interested in straightening it out it would be a great benefit to balance the budget. I feel this would be a notable means to occupy them, instead of causing disturbances.
I feel sorry for our Planning Commissioners who are only making $50 a meeting. I’ve been attending both meetings for the last 12 years. I don’t see our supervisors working much harder then our planners. I understand our supervisors have more responsibility, but the difference of $1000 and $50 doesn’t balance. I ask what is fair?
Sorry folks this is me, and this is only my opinion.
