South County residents take home all-around titles
Whew, what a busy time of year this is; we’ve been so busy
gathering and shipping lately that I hardly have time to do
anything else. I darn near forgot to get this column in this week
we’ve been so busy! So far everyone I’ve talked to is having a
great shipping season. All that wet weather sure made for a good
feed year. Hopefully we’ll be in for a few good years of wet
weather for a while.

Congratulations to all South County students who have graduated or will be graduating in the next couple of weeks. Mark and Glenna Porteur hosted an eighth-grade graduation party for Cash Robinson last Thursday evening at their home. Some of those on hand to help Cash celebrate included Wyatt, Lacy and Braydee Bourdet, Todd and Jenee Mathis, Mitch, Kristy, Lacey and Jake Bourdet, The Porteur and Craig Family and Mike and Teri Ziberi, just to name a few. The following evening, Mark and Glenna hosted a high school graduation for Erin Porteur.

David and Cynnie O’Connor hosted a college graduation for Sami O’Connor who graduated from Hartnell College last week as well.

Cheyenne Rey will be graduating from Jefferson School this week. Congratulations to all.

Brody Sans and Lila Bell brought the All-around titles back home to South County last weekend from the Monterey County Sheriffs Posse Junior Rodeo. They both had a great day in all of their events. Also participating from South County were Casey Mathis, Lacey and Jake Bourdet, Dawson Bell and Harley Craig, just to name a few. On Sunday, we headed over to Laton for another junior rodeo, along with the Hurley and Barrington families, Cheyenne Rey and Courtney Bowers.

Get well wishes go out to Roberta Oswald who has been hospitalized longer than anticipated after back surgery. Roberta is still up in Salinas and our thoughts and prayers go out to her. She reads to the kids every Monday at Bitterwater School so she has been greatly missed by all her students. Get well soon, Aunt Nix, we miss you!

The Pinnacles National Monument hosted a science camp last week at the RS Bar Guest Ranch. Students from Bitterwater, Jefferson and Willow Grove Schools spent two days learning about rock formations in South County. Other than it being extremely hot, the kids had a great time.

Don’t forget to get your entries in for the San Benito Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo and the annual Memorial Roping by this Friday, June 11.
