Stormy nights hit South County
Wow! What a storm we had last week. I hope you all enjoyed it as
much as we did! We had almost three inches of rain at our place
over the weekend. Vern and Jo Ann Scattini had over four inches as
did Les and Betty Sans. More rain is in the forecast this weekend
and it’s supposed to be cold again. Be sure to bundle up to stay
warm and dry while you enjoy another weekend of wet weather.

The last week has been a whirlwind of basketball “lasts” for Sierra Jo. She played in her final home game in the Mustang gym on Feb. 16, her Senior Night, which just happened to fall on her dad’s birthday as well. It was a night filled with emotion as she and her teammates ran out onto the court for the final time of her four-year high school career. She played a great game as they ended their season with a win, and she only had four fouls so she stayed in the whole game! Todd and I got to walk her out onto the court for her final game and we surprised her with two dozen roses. She made us proud as usual and gave us lots of memories. The season didn’t end that night though as the ladies qualified for the playoffs again for a record 29 years in a row. We headed off to Burlingame on Tuesday night for the first round of D4 playoff action. We played at Serra High School in San Mateo, the same high school that pro ball players Tom Brady, Lynn Swan and Barry Bonds each attended. The girls played in a tough, defensive, low-scoring game against Mercey-Burlingame but unfortunately, Sierra’s high school career came to an end that night as the Lady Mustangs were defeated 35-30. Sierra played her usual, agressive style play and ended up fouling out in the 4th quarter. Seems only fitting for her to foul out in her final game, she never quit trying and she always played hard. Thanks for all the memories Sierra, now it’s on to bigger and better things!
Good luck to the Lady Haybaylers who will be playing in their first round of playoff action this week at home. Nicole Rianda was one who celebrated her Senior Night on the court last week. Hard to believe how fast four years seemed to fly by!
Belated birthday wishes go out to Jean Schmidt who celebrated a birthday last week. Jean’s daughter Shari and her husband Jeff came down to celebrate with Jean. They spent part of the day driving tractor for Jeff and Jean.
Lots of folks have been taking advantage of the new snow up in the Sierras for some skiing. Lacy Bourdet hit the slopes last weekend in Tahoe while Buddy Sans spent the weekend in Bear Valley. Matt and Dana Hearne and their kids spent some time up at Northstar this week as well.
Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me with any news you’d like to share.
