Editor,

Overlooked in your recent article on local schools’ API test results was any mention of the steady and significant progress made by a small rural school, Spring Grove School, which over the past three years has grown by 98 points. This year’s growth of 44 points places Spring Grove School within reach of the state’s 800 performance level goal. I was amazed the article did not recognize the hard work and commitment given by staff and students to obtain this noteworthy advancement.

The teachers and students should be proud of their perseverance. Through various programs, such as SAXON math, academy programs and targeted instruction, the school has kept its eye on the target and it’s paying off for our students. Spring Grove School’s score of 790 is 60 points above the median API of similar school districts within the state of California! I can’t help but be proud!
