Purple Cross on Highway 25

The California Supreme Court has issued a unanimous opinion allowing local municipalities to ban medical marijuana shops through zoning and land use laws.

The court issued the widely watched opinion Monday. It has a direct impact on San Benito County, which has been in litigation against the local pot shop Purple Cross Rx on Bolsa Road in an attempt to close it down.

Purple Cross has argued the dispensary is a seasonal agricultural operation because it grows and sells marijuana on site, with different varieties coming into season throughout the year.
