Editor,

It appears to me that the City Council is ignorant when it comes to a running business. A pension of 90 percent is exorbitant, ridiculous, immoral and impractical. Nowhere in any private business sector does an employee receive a pension of 90 percent.

I’m in favor of going back to the table to renegotiate raises and pension plans. United Airlines and other companies are examples of what runaway raises and pension costs can do. City Council should instigate a study on the private sector and their pension plans.

If the city has 50 employees and 10 retire, the city has to hire 10 more. So instead of paying for 50 employees, it is paying for 60 and this will compound year after year after year. Who pays for their medical? Those costs are skyrocketing as well. Look at the school district!

City council, get real and stop being pushovers.
