I know that I’ve covered this topic before, but I still find it interesting.
I gave a lesson to a friend recently. While I thought we had a good handle on what we were working on, he just couldn’t take it to the golf course.
That is easy to understand because there is a big difference between one ball and a whole basket of balls in front of you in case you make a mistake.
Then one afternoon, he joined another friend and me for nine holes. I had the opportunity to observe and make comments. Since we were all in the practice mode, the score didn’t matter, and we could experiment with shots.
After a couple of mulligans along the way, he began to trust his swing and began to understood what we were trying to accomplish during the lesson.
It made a big difference. I was also able to see another area that he needed to work on that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.
